Heather Leson is a technologist and humanitarian with a focus on maps, data, and software innovations. As Data Literacy Lead at International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent, Heather’s mandate includes data advocacy, responsible data use, and data skills programs in partnership with the 190 national societies and the 11 million volunteers. Her wide range experience in social technologies and internet startups includes delivery of research, software development, data advocacy, community building, and program management in varied organizations such as Qatar Computing Research Institute (Qatar Foundation), Ushahidi, Open Knowledge (School of Data), Tucows, and MTS Allstream. She is a Board Member for the OpenStreetMap Foundation past Board Member of Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (4 years).
